Hoon Hay Community Fiesta

The Hoon Hay Community Fiesta began in the early 2000s at Rowley Primary School and has grown into one of our community's most anticipated annual events. In 2018, the facilitation of the fiesta was entrusted to the Rowley Community Centre (formerly Rowley Resource Centre) as kaitiaki - community caretakers - of this special occasion.

In partnership with the newly formed Rowley United Collective, made up of local community members and Christchurch City Council Recreation Advisors, we continue to plan, organize, and deliver this vibrant celebration each year.

"Celebrating Community Together" remains at the heart of the Fiesta. Local families share delicious cultural food, while talented performers from our schools and wider community provide lively entertainment. A wide range of agencies and organizations, both local and city - wide also attend, offering valuable information and resources that support healthier, safer lifestyles for all.

We would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to everyone who supports and participates in this incredible event - our volunteers, funders, donors, stallholders, and Community Award recipients. Your contribution has helped make the Fiesta such a success over the years.

We look forward to continuing to grow this treasured event for many years to come.
